Jules Plisson has built a career where science and passion naturally echo one another. An acoustics engineer trained at ENSIM in Le Mans, he was drawn to this speciality as much by scientific curiosity as by his love of music. A percussionist and synth enthusiast, he has already performed alongside his partner, a piano teacher. For him, being an acoustician enriches his perspective as a musician… and vice versa.

Originally from Tours, Jules moved to the “Ville Rose” to complete a CIFRE doctoral thesis at LAUM, focused on acoustic metamaterials and periodic structures. His research centred on developing materials capable of controlling the propagation of sound and vibration waves, with promising prospects for many industrial sectors. After completing his PhD, he joined Capgemini, first as a research engineer in acoustics, before moving into a project management role.

In 2024, he joined IRT Saint Exupéry to continue his work in acoustics. There, he develops innovative solutions combining numerical simulation, experimental testing and additive manufacturing, notably through the 3D printing of advanced materials. His research has concrete applications in aeronautics, reducing noise pollution; in space, designing structures able to withstand launcher vibrations; and in defence, where metamaterials open up new possibilities in radar discretion. What drives him every day is seeing research turn into useful innovations, as close as possible to industry’s needs. Jules particularly appreciates the diversity of technical challenges and the way the French IRTs operate, as true bridges between research and industry.

When he’s not exploring new acoustic solutions, Jules is passionate about climbing, a discipline in which he competes at a high level with the Tournefeuille club. He has distinguished himself at the “Garonne Escalade” trophy and the “24 Heures du Mur”. A fan of canyoning and skydiving, he finds in these pursuits the same taste for challenge and precision that drives him in his everyday work.
