IRT Saint Exupéry organised its 2nd PhD’s Day with 40 presentations

The IRT Saint Exupéry’s second PhDs’ day took place on July 7th on the Paul Sabatier University campus in Toulouse. It attracted around 150 participants. About a quarter of those taking part were academic or industrial IRT members.

IRT Saint Exupéry PhD students have presented their work with various communication ways:

  • 4 technical presentations during the plenary session, where the selected students have shown excellent scientific and technological level of their research results as well as their pedagogical skills : Victor Dos Santos (IRT Saint Exupéry/Laplace) for the More Electrical Domain, Lucie Bres (IRT Saint Exupéry/Laplace) and Saber Chelaghma (IRT Saint Exupéry/ICA) for the High Performance Multifunctional Materials Domain, and Matthieu Le Goff (IRT Saint Exupéry/IRIT) for the Embedded Systems Domain,
  • 16 technical presentations during two specialised parallel sessions,
  • 10 poster presentations preceded by a 1 slide/minute flash introduction (during the plenary sessions),
  • 5 large-audience presentations of “3 minutes thesis” during which the “actors” have impressed by their theatrical skills.
During the buffet lunch, special tables have been organised in which several experts from our industrial member companies have shared their experience about R&D industrial careers with PhD students and post-docs.

The first two IRT PhD students, Cédric Abadie (IRT Saint Exupéry/Laplace) on April for the More Electrical Aircraft Domain and Jonathan Bonnet (IRT Saint Exupéry/IRIT) for the Embedded Systems Domain on June, have successfully defended their thesis. Both have now a permanent position. The next 14 PhD students are in their final steps and will defend their thesis within the next 6 months, in due time. New PhD students are expected to join IRT in the fall 2017 within the new generation of projects, maintaining the total number of PhD students at the level of around 40.
