On 26th September 2019, almost 40 PhD students and post-doctoral researchers were welcome by Airbus Defence & Space for discovering its activities in the Space domain. For the first time, some PhD students from several Doctoral Schools (Aéronautique-Astronautique, GEET, SdM) were invited to join the IRT ones for this AIDA day.

In the morning, Airbus D&S engineers presented their company’s research activities, first during a general presentation on the evolution of space technologies, then through six workshops in small groups that allowed for further work on different technologies.
The afternoon was devoted to a visit to the clean rooms for satellite integration and testing.

All participants expressed their great satisfaction regarding the welcoming spirit, the organisation set up by Airbus D&S and the very good quality of the presentations. This day provided them a detailed knowledge of Airbus D&S’s research and development activities, and probably a motivation to pursue their careers in this direction.
